Put photos on DVD! All you have to do is provide us with your photos and slides and we will take care of the rest. Let us create a video filled with your photos with beautiful transitions that are set to music. We can even record you for a voice-over narration and add titles to the photographs to describe them. Great for any occasion: company events, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, wedding and graduations. See Slideshows and Montages for more information
To decide which resolution you should choose, you need to decide how you are going to use the scans. The two standard choices are:
A) For viewing only on a monitor or TV.
B) For printing (with option to enlarge, crop, etc.).
Most printers print at 600dpi (dots per inch). If you scan a 4 x 6 photo in at 600dpi, you could print the image on a 600dpi printer at 100% for a 4” x 6” print. No bigger or it will start to show the pixels. On the other hand, if your just going to view on a computer monitor or HDTV, which has a maximum 1200dpi height, then a 4 x 6 photo scanned at 300dpi would be sufficient, as 4” x 300dpi = 1200dpi. This of course would have to be a horizontal picture and not enlarged or cropped. A standard def TV only has 480dpi in height, so a 300dpi scan is great for photo slideshows and you can do zoom and pan effects fairly easy. It’s a little math, but if you need assistance as to what resolution you need, please contact us. Better to plan ahead on any scanning needs to get it done right the first time!
The options are almost endless. The standard scanning is done without any filters, color corrections, dust removal, and rotation. We can at your request, turn on any of these “automatic” filters. Some of our clients want to retain it’s original appearance and others want the enhancements. Most scanning operations are based on an hourly rate, so the more you prepare, the more efficient we operate which brings any savings back to you. If there is a specific order you want the scans to appear in, then that would be the first priority. Second would be to separate them by size and note which ones you want filters applied to. Never write on the back of any photo. If you need to place a note or number or anything, write on a post-it note then attach the post it.
